Adyen is a global payment service provider powering many of the services and brands you use online and in store. In this talk, we’ll briefly talk about how the payments landscape looks like and Adyen’s approach to solve the challenges that come with it. Our platform has been growing exponentially from the very first processed payment. We’ll go through the steps of our architecture’s evolution, sharing some of the important lessons which we’ve learned while scaling.

Bio
Efe Kocabaş : Efe is a Technical Program Manager at Adyen. He's focused on developer enablement, part of Platform Engineering group. His main drive is to provide unique, smooth developer experience within Adyen. He coordinates efforts to implement best practices. He's been working on cross team initiatives and plays an important role by bringing teams together. He enjoys solving complex problems, read about new technologies and playing video games in his free time.
Thinus Naude : Thinus is a technical team lead at Adyen in the Platform Engineering department with a passion for cloud native technologies, devops and coffee. He likes working with distributed systems in all shapes and forms with a deeper interest in the challenges surrounding service communication and release and deployments. He believes in simple interconnected software pieces that do one thing well and are easy to change later. Although he is a Java developer by experience like many he now mostly writes bash, json and unfortunately yaml.
